GALLAGHER TOWNSHIP -- A school community in Clinton County is grieving because of a tragedy after the high school prom. A high school senior and her boyfriend were killed in a crash after the Central Mountain High School Ball.
There is paint on the pavement on Route 664 near Lock Haven and now flowers have been placed in memory of 17-year-old Carly Miller of Beech Creek and her boyfriend Jordan King of Bellefonte.
Carly and Jordan were all smiles in a picture taken before the two went to the Central Mountain High School Senior Ball Friday night at Lock Haven University.
Troopers found the couple's car hours later in Gallagher Township. Troopers say Jordan King lost control of the car, swerved off the road, and hit a tree. The car split in half. The couple was killed.
At Central Mountain High School, the faculty is caring for students, some who were hopeful Miller would be alongside them at graduation next month.
"Super nice girl, you never expected it to happen to her," said Cade Bryan.
Senior Cade Bryan had known Carly Miller since they were both young. He says students were quiet at school.
"It's surreal like it doesn't really seem like it happened. I feel like I should be seeing her around the halls instead she's just not around,” said Bryan.
“The news of a student's death has devastated the school district. In an effort to support our students, additional counselors are working at CMHS and will be in place as long as needed,” said the superintendent of the Keystone Central School District.
"Everyone kind of thinks they are invincible until something actually happens. It kind of just sets in that it could happen to anybody. You just always have to be very cautious of what happens,” said Bryan.
Central Mountain School District's graduation is scheduled for June 11. State police said the crash is still under investigation.
