SCRANTON -- People lined the streets in downtown Scranton Saturday morning to honor veterans.
The annual Armed Forces Parade stepped off at 11 a.m. in front of the Gino Merli Center.
Dozens of military units and veterans from throughout the area were joined by several high school marching bands.
"It's really great. It’s a real morale booster to see the people come out and support us. I was in the service,” said Gene Besko, a veteran from Scranton. “We need to support our troops. They need to know that we're there for them."
Saturday marked Armed Forces Day in the United States, traditionally celebrated on the third Saturday of May.
