WILKES-BARRE -- The Fine Arts Fiesta kicked off Thursday morning in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

After years with some bad weather, it seems the vendors and crowds finally lucked out this year.

The fiesta on public square features all sorts of arts, crafts, music, and food.

The 60th annual Fine Arts Fiesta kicked off with the Wyoming Valley West High School chorus performing for about an hour The chorus is just one of more than 57 visual and performing arts groups or artists that will be at this four-day event.

Organizers say there are about six art exhibits for people to enjoy here, that include painting and sculpture.

They hope for a larger crowd this year than in some of the past years because the forecast looks dry.

"I think that, combined with it being our 60th anniversary, we are the oldest full-scale arts festival in the state of Pennsylvania, I think is a large draw for everyone," said executive director Brian Benedetti.

Along with all the artists, there are more than a dozen food vendors with some interesting food options, including chocolate-covered bacon.

Coordinators stress this is a fiesta for all ages. They have plenty of activities for kids throughout the fiesta.

The festival runs through Sunday.
