CLIFTON TOWNSHIP -- State police say the victim was hit and killed Saturday night while walking home which is something he's done many times before in Lackawanna County.

There's a road side memorial and debris along State Route 435 near Daleville where troopers say Carl Bell, 57, was hit and killed.

According to troopers, a 72-year-old man from Moosic was driving north when he hit bell.

People at a nearby diner say Bell was a regular and was headed home just before 9pm.

A firefighter who was at the crash scene added Bell was wearing dark clothing when he was struck near the side of the road.

We spoke with a neighbor who says he has known the victim for almost 50 years.

"He was a good guy. We knew him for a long time, type of person who would always say hello. You would see him walking down the street, I would always say hello to him," said Joseph Bonitz from Clifton Township.

The driver has not been charged.

Neighbors added Bell was disabled and was forced to walk since he did not have a driver's license.

The coroner says an autopsy is scheduled for Monday after the deadly wreck in Lackawanna County.
