DANVILLE -- Mother's Day is right around the corner and many people celebrate by buying Mom some flowers.

It's a busy weekend for florists; the phones at Scott's Floral in Danville were ringing all day.

Carol Phelps is one of the women answering those phones.

"I have not been bored a bit!" she laughed.

While the gift shop is filled with flowers, there are even more of them in the back rooms at Scott's Floral.

Owner Scott Edwards says the days leading up to Mother's Day are the busiest of the year. He has nine delivery trucks on the road but says the nice weather doesn't help.

"It's such a beautiful day out that people actually aren't home, so we have to make two and three trips back."

Some customers say they like to pick out their own Mother's Day gifts rather than ordering them over the phone.

Jack Romanyshyn came looking for one thing.

"Flowers," he said. "Because you can't go wrong with flowers, and my mother loves flowers, so I think that will be a winner."

For the first time this year, Scott's Floral is making deliveries on Sunday to make sure those last-minute orders get out.

"Last year we had several people who weren't home on Saturday and we were out delivering on Sunday anyway to make sure the mothers got their flowers. So this year we decided, since we're out and about with the trucks, we might as well be out and about delivering," Edwards said.

Preparing flowers for Bloomsburg University's graduation is also keeping the folks at Scott's Floral busy this weekend.
