WILKES-BARRE -- As people turned out to say goodbye to a murder victim, they wonder if police are any closer to finding the killer who is still out there.

The man who relatives believe was shot to death last week in Wilkes-Barre in retaliation for his crime-fighting efforts is being laid to rest Tuesday evening. His killer is still out there and it's been days since police have said anything about the investigation.

Friends and family are grieving for the loss of Don Bachman at his viewing on North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre.   His funeral will be later on Tuesday night.

It's been four days since his murder, his killer still on the loose, and neighbors say they're concerned about the safety in the community since his death.

Bachman was killed just feet from his home on Willow Street Friday when he was arriving home from work. He was an advocate of neighborhood safety, often reporting crimes to police.

Police are also still reviewing the video footage taken from security cameras that Bachman had around his home, and haven't said whether those cameras captured anything related to the shooting.

Investigators say they have active leads, although police aren't not naming any suspects, only saying the case is under investigation. Police also say they don't want the murder of this neighborhood safety advocate to make people afraid of reporting crime.

"We can't do it by ourselves, and they're the missing link between the crime and us responding. Therefore, if they don't call, we may not be responding, so it's extremely important for them to call," said Phillip Myers, Wilkes-Barre Police Department.

Police also say it's important for people to not involve themselves in a risky situation if they see crime happening, but to try to discreetly call police.

Friends and family of Bachman here say he'll be greatly missed in the community.
