DALLAS TOWNSHIP -- Police held an event to bring the community together in Luzerne County.
The Dallas Township Police Department hosted its first "Special Needs Open House" Sunday.
Folks could meet with members of the department and get an up-close look at emergency vehicles.
Police say their goal was to ease potential fear and anxiety if anyone with special needs needs an officer's help.
"It afforded people that have special needs that if they needed to call emergency services there was a level of comfort that was established by inviting them in to our house," said Chief Robert Jolley.
Anyone with special needs and their families as well as caregivers were invited to Sunday's event at the police department on Route 309 in Luzerne County.
