He's the top prospect in Pennsylvania right now. Mike Nikorak pitches for Stroudsburg high-school. Crowds gather to watch his every move. He throws in the high 90's on a consistent basis. He goes 6'5" 225lbs, and on most boards is a top 10 pick in the upcoming June draft.

"Yes! It's coming up. I'm not trying to worry about it too much right now just worrying about Stroudsburg and going after the conference and going after the district," said Mike Nikorak.

"It's really neat for our community. We do get a lot of scouts here, but we also have a lot of people from the community coming out to see. Most likely it's a once in a lifetime deal," said Phil Stokes.

This is the pressure Mike deals with every time he pitches. You have a scout here from virtually every major league team and on a cold windy day here in Monroe county Mike topped out at 96 and ended the 5th inning leaving the bases loaded the final of three strikeouts in that inning with that nasty curve ball.
"That happens. you just have to battle back. Sometimes I just find myself in tough situations that I have to pretend that nothing is going on and just focus on one batter one at a time," again said Mike.

"To be honest with you from the scouts coming over and visiting the house they would tell you that they don't want to see you get into a bad situation, but we actually do like to see how you pitch out of a jam and unfortunately he walked those three guys, but he came back and struck out the side which was a positive," said Gary Nikorak.

"We have a great team going on right now. Everyone is swinging the bat real well and everyone is playing the field well," added Mike.

"I'm really proud of the effort we are getting from our kids in all situations-offensively, defensively, and pitching. I know Mike is an exceptional pitcher, but we have had a number of our guys pitch quality games and I'm really proud and happy about that," again said Phil.

Mike gave up playing football for a shot at the big leagues. that dream becomes a reality in two months.
