MILFORD -- A major donation was made Tuesday to a foundation to carry on the legacy of a man who died last year in Pike County.

Businessman Dick Snyder left $2.3 million to the Greater Pike Community Foundation.

The gift will be used to help nonprofit groups and continue the mission Snyder helped spearhead to beautify downtown Milford.

"He wanted that, the changes that occurred in Milford through his work and other people's work. He wanted to make sure they were maintained and improved over the years," said Ann Morey, a long-time friend of Snyder and trustee of the Richard L. Snyder Charitable Trust.

The amount that will be given out each year could range from $20,000 to $100,000 for things like maintaining a streetscape project Snyder helped spearhead.
