SCRANTON -- Runners hit the starting line to help kids Saturday night in Scranton.

They laced up their sneakers for the Children's Advocacy Center Moonlight 5K Run/Walk at Nay Aug Park.

The event benefits kids who have experienced physical and sexual abuse and neglect.

Folks with the CAC say they treated more than 1,400 kids last year alone.

"We rely very much on the community to support us, not necessarily financially, but in terms of open eyes and open hearts so that our children can be protected," said Mary Ann La Porta, Children's Advocacy Center.

This is the eleventh year for the Moonlight 5K in Scranton.
