WILLIAMSPORT --  Officials in Williamsport celebrated the completion of a multimillion dollar project on Earth Day that could help out Mother Nature.

A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday at the $124 million waste water treatment plant on Jefferson Lane.

Authorities say the plant removes contaminants from waste water which will lead to improved conditions of the Chesapeake Bay.

The plant was financed partially through state and federal grants and customers.  It took five years to build.

The new facility in Williamsport will service 51,000 customers.
