WILKES-BARRE-- Police in Wilkes-Barre are investigating more gunfire in the city.

Investigators say a man was shot inside a home on the city's south side.

Late Friday afternoon Wilkes-Barre police told us a woman was mad at a man and used a gun to smash his big-screen TV but the gun fired, hitting the man.

Officers add the couple's 2-year-old child was in the apartment when the gun went off.

We spoke to some people who live inside the apartment building who all say the shootings in the city are getting out of hand.

It was just after 10 a.m. Friday when Wilkes-Barre police received a 911 call for a gunshot victim being taken to a hospital.

"We don't know if it's an accident or intentional shooting. We've taken some witnesses to police headquarters for interviews," said Wilkes-Barre Police Chief Robert Hughes.

Police said a man who had been shot in the torso was driven by someone to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

"We're removing some weapons from the house just for safety, and one may have been involved," said Chief Hughes.

Some people who live in this apartment building on Monroe Street say all the shootings that have been happening in Wilkes-Barre are scary and they hope to see something done about it soon.

"There is always something new going on around Wilkes-Barre and you never know what is going to happen," said Kimberly Burton.

Burton lives in one of the apartments in the Monroe Street building. She said a family with children lives in the apartment where the shooting took place. She says the whole situation is scary.

"You never know what could happen next."

Lawrence Smith also lives in the apartment building. He says he was home all morning but was sleeping and didn't hear any gunshots.

"My landlord called me and told me did I hear anything about anybody being shot and I said no," Smith said. "It's scares me, it really does, it scares me."

No names have been released.

Police say this is the eighth shooting in three weeks in Wilkes-Barre.
