SPRING BROOK TOWNSHIP -- A teen driver is in critical condition after crashing into a utility pole and then coming in contact with a live wire in Lackawanna County.
The wreck happened around 8 p.m. on Friday on Maple Lake Road near Moscow.
Police say the driver hit the pole head on, snapping it in half.
According to authorities, the transformer caught fire and several electrical wires fell.
Officers say the driver got out his car and came in contact with one of the wires.
A neighbor heard the commotion and ran out to help.
"The power was surging in and out, I got down there, the guy was unconscious. I ran over to him to get him awake I got him awake," said Thomas Bartridge of Spring Brook Township. "He was trying to move I told him to stop moving emergency response took over. I don't think he saw the lines down. He might of been confused but he definitely got electrocuted."
Life Flight was called to take the driver to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
Police in Lackawanna County did not say what caused Friday night's crash.
