RENOVO -- On Monday, the Clinton County coroner identified the body found in Renovo over the weekend as Kelley Jo Snyder, who was missing since Easter Sunday.

State police arrested her husband who they say admitted to dumping his wife's body.

Even though troopers say William Snyder admitted to taking his wife's body from their home to a remote location near Renovo, he has not yet been charged with her death.

We also learned the couple's oldest son told state police he saw his mother leave for the Dollar General on Easter Sunday and never return.

State police stood outside the home of William and Kelley Jo Snyder Monday making sure no one walked inside.

The Clinton County coroner now says the body found in a remote location near Renovo over the weekend was, in fact, Kelley Jo Snyder.

"She was a very nice lady. I just can't believe any of this happened," said Dottie Haswell of Renovo.

Snyder went missing Easter Sunday after state police say she told her family she was going to the Dollar General store.

According to court papers filed over the past weekend, Snyder's husband William admitted to dumping her body. He also told state police he reported her missing and faked a ransom note. He was arrested and right now faces charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

He spoke to Newswatch 16 last week.

"If she is out there and can see this or someone sees this and has any info to get a hold of us," Snyder said last week.

Neighbors tell Newswatch 16 they were surprised by William Snyder's arrest because they thought the couple got along well.

"He was in the military and I never expected anything like that from him. I didn't think he would ever do something like that," said Rick Probst.

"I've seen them together. They've never fought," Haswell added.

Neighbors say the couple's kids who are 3, 8, and 14 were home on Easter Sunday. The couple's 14-year-old son told state police he saw his mother leave for the Dollar General and never come home.

Neighbors say there are many rumors about Kelley Jo's disappearance.

"I didn't believe any of it until they actually found her or anything. There are 56 different stories I heard and they found her body 56 different times, so it's hard to believe what you hear around here," said Richard MacKenzie.

The Clinton County coroner did not give a cause for Kelley Jo Snyder's death. He says it will take a few weeks until toxicology reports come back. Family friends tell Newswatch 16 there is a fund set up to pay for funeral expenses and to help Snyder's children.
