SCRANTON -- Thousands of runners lined up at the starting line for the Scranton Half Marathon Sunday morning.

The 13 .1 mile race made its way through parts of the Electric City, but started and ended at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

It's the second year for the half marathon.

The runners spent a good portion of their time on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail.

Money raised from this year's event will go toward maintaining and upgrading the trail.

"Great race, they do a nice job here in Scranton," said Erin Rehrig from Massachusetts. "Scranton is the place to come if you want to run because of all the support, and I think it got me through the last couple miles because I'm not sure anything else did."

Kevin Borelli, of Dickson City, was the overall winner of Sunday's half marathon in Scranton.
