The PUC has approved a rate hike for customers of MetEd and Penelec.
Homes and businesses in parts of Monroe and Pike Counties served by MetEd can expect their electric bill to go up an average of $12.70 a month.
Penelec customers in the northern tier will see an average monthly increase of $15.76.
Penelec serves customers in Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Sullivan, and a portion of Wayne Counties.
The rate hike goes into effect May 19.
