MOUNT POCONO -- A national retailer says it will pull the plug on one of its stores in the Poconos.

Officials with Kmart say the store along Route 940 in Mount Pocono will close by early July.

The store will begin its liquidation sale on May 7.

The store's 66 employees can apply for jobs at other area Kmarts. Some could be eligible for severance.

Customers say they are sad to see the loss of a store.

“I live up here and I drive to East Stroudsburg every day to work because there really isn`t anything that pays a living wage, so this is convenient for the people who live here and work in here. So it is a big deal. It is a big deal,” said Cameron Eldridge of Long Pond.

Kmart officials say they are working with customers who have current layaway contracts at the store.
