BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP -- It has been a wintry last day of March around our area. In Susquehanna County, it snowed most of the day Tuesday.

Still it's officially spring and folks in the Montrose area are looking forward to putting all this cold, wintry weather behind them.

As construction season gets into full swing these next few weeks, workers near Montrose found themselves dressed in layers and contending with a nuisance snowfall.

“This is horrible. It's the beginning of our season and now it's cold. It's usually warm at this time, but now it's cold,” said Kayla Bailey of Scranton.

Everywhere you looked in downtown Montrose, you couldn't help but think this day felt more like January than almost April.

“I started riding my horses this weekend. I'll have to stop until it warms up again,” said Whitney Mulqueen of Factoryville.

Mulqueen stopped into Joycie's, a restaurant where soup was the hot item on the menu while the snow came down outside.

“It means spring’s going to be another day farther away. That's okay though. We'll be complaining it's too hot in another month or two,” said Joyce Siracuse with Joycie's.

Hopefully by then the seasons will have changed and the folks at Felix-Hinds Garden Center on Route 706 near Montrose will have more than just Easter flowers in stock.

“It's too early for anything. The weather's a big factor. What we have available for sale, in about two weeks bringing in cold crops, pansies. Getting everybody in the mood to plant for spring,” said Gwenn Diaz with Felix-Hinds Garden Center.

So while golf courses sit covered in snow, waiting for the spring thaw, folks like Kayla bailey who work outside have to grin and bear a little more winter weather.

“We were trying to get out of here at first, but then you get used to it after like an hour and a half,” Bailey said. “I'd rather, 60s. 60s is perfect for me, shorts and a hoodie.”
