PPL Electric Utilities is asking the state to approve a rate hike.
The company filed the request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission Tuesday.
The electric bill for the average customer would go up about $10 a month if the request is approved.
PPL says money from the rate hike would go towards improved reliability and reducing outages.
The increase would take effect January 1, 2016.
