COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP -- A spring snowstorm has sprung and people living in many of our higher elevations have been dealing with flakes falling since early Tuesday afternoon.
Coolbaugh Township road crews know winter snow is sticking around in Monroe County, and they're making sure they're prepared with a salt delivery in spring.
"We have all our trucks ready to go, as soon as they get bad we'll be out on the road."
Road foreman Stephen Weber says he's ready with nine trucks, seven drivers, and about 800 tons of salt on hand.
As the flakes began falling early Tuesday afternoon, drivers said they're tired of seeing the snow accumulate.
"I know it's just shovel, shovel, shovel, shovel, and ice, and it's like come on. Give us some sun now," said Elizabeth Henry of Tobyhanna.
Plows can be hooked up at a moment's notice and get out on the road when they're needed. But crews in Coolbaugh Township say they'd much rather be doing something else.
"We're ready for the warmth. We're ready to get back to doing the road repairs that got to get done because it seems like we no sooner patch the holes that are out there and we've got to go out and plow," Weber said.
Nydia Cabrera of Tobyhanna says she was hoping March would go out a little more like a lamb.
"Oh, the flowers blooming, it's nice I love the spring weather, I really love it."
But road crews say this isn't the first time March has ended more with a roar, and they want drivers to stay alert.
"I have seen snow in May. We have seen, I think, seven inches of snow in May," Weber recalled. "Don't get used to the roads being dry because they can slick over fast."
