DELAWARE WATER GAP -- Busy mixing up filling for blueberry pies, bakers at the Village Farmer and Bakery say with less than a week to go until Easter, they aren't wasting any time or oven space.
"We have some lovely flowers available for Easter and we also have some cream-filled eggs and lots of special pies," said Mehgan Carrega of the Village Farmer and Bakery.
The bakery in the Poconos is well-known for having delicious Easter breads and baked goods.
The Cox family makes the trip every year from South Carolina.
"We stop in here at least two to three times every time we come in. Everything is just delicious. Homemade goodies and you just don't get that everywhere," said Jesse Cox.
Cox says this is his family's spring break and they celebrate the holiday by picking up the family's favorite foods far from their home in Myrtle Beach.
"Some of the different breads that are only made this time of year, some of the sweets, the chocolates, the homemade chocolates, little stuff like that just makes stuff special," said Cox.
Although the bakery in Delaware Water Gap has plenty of baked goods on hand, they do suggest you call ahead because there are some items they run out of rather quickly.
"Our specialties -- our carrot cake and our crumb pies -- definitely go first. People love the bread, but we definitely try to keep the pies stocked. You'll definitely be able to get at least an apple pie," said Carrega.
Right now, coconut custard pies have been the most popular order.
Marianne Titler from Michigan says this small shop caught her eye and she's trying to decide what pie to take home.
"The pies are really cool and I like how all of the Easter stuff, it was just all of these specialty Easter kind of treats," said Titler.
Managers say they expect 100 pies or more to go out the door by Easter Sunday.
The bakery in Delaware Water Gap is open every day including Easter Sunday.
