Power To Save Special
Tuesday, March 24, 2015
7:30pm – 8:00pm on WNEP

WNEP-TV’s Don Jacobs and Jackie Lewandoski host this quarter’s Power To Save Special.  We’ll find out ; see how the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is using their Power To Save; see how the natural gas industry is joining area contributors to help with education in our area; and, what ever happened with all those shoes!?!  And, THIS JUST IN:  the first eaglet has hatched!  Watch the happy family live HERE.

SECURING SUSQUEHANNA STREAMS – Don Jacobs

See how the folks at the Susquehanna County Conservation District deal with the constant struggle to evaluate any project that potentially alerts the route or quality of streams in Susquehanna County.  Special attention is taken to control erosion – which in turn protects the Chesapeake Bay.  Click here to see the featured story.

NATURAL GAS and SCHOOLS – Jackie Lewandoski
Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation shows us how they are investing in area education, not just in Susquehanna County, but beyond.  Working with the Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains, they have identified programs through Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.  We visited both the Susquehanna County Career and Technical Center and Junior Achievement’s Biz Town in Luzerne County.  Click here to see the featured story.
AIRPORT EFFICIENCY – Jackie Lewandoski
WNEP’s Jackie Lewandoski sits down with the folks at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport to see how the region’s major airport is using its Power To Save.  Click here to see the featured story.

AN EAGLET HAS HATCHED! – Jake

WNEP-TV’s Pennsylvania Outdoor Life has kept us up to date on the plight of the Bald Eagle.  They showed us a nest with two eggs with a live web feed from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.  This morning (Tuesday, March 24, 2015 just before 8:30am), the first egg hatched.  We’ll be watching to see when number two comes into the world.  Watch the live feed here!  See video of the first day with only one eaglet here.  The second eaglet has hatched:  Tuesday, March 24th around 7pm.  Click here to see the featured story.
UPDATE:  SHOES FOR THE NEEDY – Jackie/Jake
We asked for your shoes and you delivered! Shoes collected to go to Third World countries to provide much-needed clothing AND resources and products for budding entrepreneurs in those countries. Spearheaded by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the project was an overwhelming success.  Click here to see the featured story.
