PENN FOREST TOWNSHIP -- If you plan to do some spring cleaning this weekend, remember that many of those old things you throw out could easily be used again.

You can have the Power to Save this weekend with a big consignment sale near Jim Thorpe.

It's called the Kid's Closet consignment sale at Penn's Peak in Carbon County: 30,000 items, 175 sellers and three days.

"Clothing, toys, books, bikes, games, DVDs, furniture, and so much more," said Danielle Andreas.

This is the 11th consignment sale the Kid's Closet has hosted. That consignment business pays people for their items, and then sells them. It brings a big crowd to the Jim Thorpe area, which means people aren't leaving empty handed.

"The moms here are recycling; they're getting money back for the items that they're selling."

Jan Perilli volunteers as a cashier and also brings plenty of stuff to sell instead of letting it pile up at home.

"I've been doing this for five years and I'm shocked that I can fill a car, twice a year still!"

Shoppers say this is a great place to buy used kids clothing and toys.

"They grow out of them so fast. It's worth it. It's worth the drive. This stuff is so clean," said Stephanie Barbush of Drums

Organizers say shoppers can rummage through thousands of items and the shoppers tell Newswatch 16 that they're saving a pretty penny.

"(I'm saving) a lot, a lot. My husband's going to be really excited!"

The sale at Penn's Peak runs through Saturday afternoon.
