SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY -- There are still a few more days left of winter and Wednesday reminded people in Susquehanna County of that fact.

Folks at Elk Mountain can't complain with some fresh snow this late in the season.

But the saying goes: location, location, location. Some folks around the county didn't see a flake and others got quite the surprise snow.

Fighting swirling winds and pesky snowflakes, Greg Davey kept clearing the sidewalks in downtown Susquehanna Borough.

Davey and his fellow public works crews had been out on the roads since 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when the snow started to fly.

"We thought it'd definitely be over. This came as a surprise. We heard a dusting. It's supposed to continue until God knows when," said Davey.

A plow truck proved there's still some fight left in Old Man Winter after the freak snow blanketed only parts of the county with several inches.

"We were only supposed to get flurries, but here you have it," said Ron Washburn of Windsor, NY.

"I walked out the door to about 4-5 inches. Joe this morning's talking about an inch or less. Missed that one didn't you?" questioned Dennis Seelenbrandt of Thompson.

So many road in Susquehanna County were made really slippery after this mid-March snowfall, including Route 171 near Ararat. A township plow slid off the road after backing up just a little bit. It was just too heavy and got stuck, another casualty of winter here in northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

While the driver will have to wait to get back on the road, the rest of the folks here have to wait for the official end of winter and the spring thaw ahead.

"I'm waiting for spring. I've been waiting for a month and a half now," added Seelenbrandt.

"You just got to deal with it. You have to deal with it. That's part of the job. Waiting for spring in a big, big way," said Davey.

The snow stopped Wednesday afternoon and gave way to sun.

There's just a couple of weeks left to the ski season at Elk Mountain which wraps up at the end of the month.
