SCHUYLKILL HAVEN -- It won't be long before farmers start taking to their fields for the planting season.

In Schuylkill County, farmers learned the power to save at Ag Day at Penn State Schuylkill Haven.

It was an opportunity for many in the farming community to learn new ways to save money and energy in the fields.

One presenter explained a no-tilling process that help farmers conserve water and soil.

"If he doesn't have to do any tillage, he's not burning diesel fuel, not wearing out his tractor, and his tillage equipment. So, hopefully he can grow a few more acres and grow it faster," said Marion Calmer, a farmer from Illinois.

The farmer said after winters like the one Pennsylvania farmers had to deal with this year, not having to till the fields could save some extra time in the long run during extreme weather.
