LOCK HAVEN -- Snow in downtown Lock Haven that hasn't melted from the warm-up was scooped up by city workers in Clinton County. Newswatch16 spoke with people who are relieved that the piles of snow are finally gone after this rough winter.

City workers in Lock Haven are hard at work but hopeful. It may be the last time this season they will chip away at ice on East Main Street.

"It's pretty clear. It's actually amazing. I'm glad to see it go. I'm excited," said Staci Wyland from Lock Haven.

"We try to come out so it looks a little more appealing to shop downtown," said Dennis Furl Lock Haven Streets Foreman.

City workers say they remove snow built up near metered parking spaces about three times a year in the city. This time there was a lot to clear out. With a warm up and now, "Clean parking spaces and sidewalks," said Phillip Anastos the owner of the Texas Restaurant.

The owner of the Texas Restaurant Phillip Anastos says it's not easier to park in front and he's been busier than usual.

"A lot of people start moving around like yesterday we saw people we haven't seen in months since the weather was bad," said Anastos.

Once big ice chunks are removed, people in Lock Haven hope they won't have to see them again until next year.

"Yeah, I want it to be gone. I'm tired of slipping and getting my feet wet,” said Ida Chappel from Lock Haven.

"I happen to love the snow when it first falls. It's very gorgeous, but the aftermath is horrible. It's horrendous and it causes a lot of problems," said Wyland.

"Oh, I'm very glad the weather is changing," said Mike Noltee from Jersey Shore.

Noltee lives in Jersey Shore but shops in Lock Haven.

"My sister and I went to the dollar store last week. We both almost fell because it was so built up around the curb," said Noltee.

This warm up and now clean-up are exactly what businesses and people downtown were waiting for.
