ELYSBURG -- Knoebels' employees say the amusement park is the second largest employer in Northumberland County, behind Weis Markets. On Friday they set up shop at the Elysburg Fire Department and employees will start the process of hiring between 600 and 800 new seasonal workers on Saturday.

Winter won't seem to go away this year. Snow covers the ground and many people are ready for warm weather.

"I'm really tired of the weather. Very tired," Blaine Cooper said.

The staff at Knoebels Amusement Resort says they are already thinking spring. They are getting ready for the park's 11th annual job fair at the Elysburg Fire Department. Human Resource Director Jon Anderson says Knoebels employs around 2,000 people. Many of those employees come back each year, but they hope to hire a good amount at the job fair.

"We'll need about 600 to 800. We had a lot of students who were in college and they've moved on to their careers and we need to backfill those positions," Anderson said.

Anderson says the positions are seasonal, but they are looking for people to work 40 hours a week in a variety of jobs.

"Food service, we have games, people to take care of the grounds, the flowers, all the work that goes on behind the scenes that people just don't see," Anderson said.

Something new at this year's job fair: people will be able to apply for jobs online. If that works out, they'll be able to apply for jobs on Knoebels' website, which would eliminate the need to fill out paper job applications.

"We're setting people up for interviews, so a lot of behind the scenes work here," Anderson said.

People Newswatch 16 spoke with say they are ready for Knoebels to open.

"Well it means spring's coming. That's a good sign," Cooper said.

"The new rides and it's warm. I want it. I want it here quick. I'm tired of the snow," Barry Heller said.

The Knoebels job fair is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Elysburg Fire Department. Knoebels opens on April 25.
