LEWISBURG -- Frigid temperatures and several inches of snow and ice have people longing for spring. It seems like we haven't had a break with the weather and we talked with people in Lewisburg about their winter blues.

Snow, ice, and slush cover the sidewalks in Lewisburg and people spent their morning shoveling it all up.

"We're into March. I'm over it. The average temperature should be in the 40s," said Greg McBride.

He is not alone in his opinion of the winter weather. All of the people we spoke with agree.

"After a while it gets a little bit much to keep up with it and keep the sidewalks clean and everything. So I'm ready for spring," said Phil Stamm.

"I'm a summer girl myself so this weather and the cold, if it's like this next year, I'm bound to pack up and just leave for the entire winter and come back when it's warm again," added New Columbia resident Holly Hower.

Hower says she is counting the days until spring.

"We're 16 days, I believe, until the first day of spring but who is to say it's actually going to be here when it's supposed to?"

The cold weather has people thinking spring. The owners of an ice cream shop in Lewisburg are opening this week.

"I'm going to go to Florida soon," McBride added. "Just going to pack up and go down there. I have two kids down there."

The people we spoke with say it seems like it has snowed every day and they just want relief.

"I don't look at the weather forecast because I'm afraid to see what's going to happen. I just get up and deal with whatever is there and every day you're one day closer to the nicer weather," Stamm said.

Spring begins Friday, March 20.
