HONESDALE -- Crews battled flames at a business in Wayne County.

Calls came in just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the building that houses George W. Kinsman Inc. on Main Street in Honesdale.

The heavy machinery dealer has been in on Main Street since 1922.

We got a look at the roof of George W. Kinsman from a ladder truck Wednesday morning. You can see the extensive damage to the attic area.

Fire crews believe the flames got their start somewhere above the first floor but they're still trying to pinpoint an exact cause. According to investigators, it's not being considered suspicious.

The business has been around for nearly a century. Kinsman's sells lawnmowers, tractors, and parts and has been there for generations.

Firefighters were at training night just down the block at the fire station when the call went out and they could smell smoke around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Thanks to the quick response, fire officials say they were able to keep the fire from spreading down the block and damaging any more historic buildings.

"Where the building separated, it's not necessarily a fire wall, but they were built at two different times so it acted as a firewall. We were able to stop the fire from spreading down the block," said Honesdale deputy chief Brian Dulay.

The owner of George W. Kinsman says he has insurance. They are trying to figure out what comes next.

Fire investigators continue to look for a cause but it's not considered suspicious.
