At this point in the season, it's not uncommon to see the WBS Penguins having success.  The mix of rookies and veterans has found the groove, both goalies are posting shutouts, and the thought of playoffs is in sight, but at any point, all that can change. With the young guns stepping up, it appears to be really coming together.

"Early in the year, the younger guys, our rookies, were big contributors and now that they're consistently contributing even now at this point in the year, that's something that we wanted to have happen and work to have happen, so it's nice that here we are in this quarter of the season and we feel like we have all aspects of our team contributing, which is important," said Head Coach John Hynes.

Rookie Conor Sheary is a major contributor.  He currently leads the team in goals and points, but says it's his teammates who ease his mind on the ice so he can focus on getting to the goal.

"I feel pretty good right now. Obviously those veterans are the ones helping me along the way and when you get to know the players you're playing around makes it a lot easier. You know where they are on the ice and and stuff like that. The same thing with every line. You know you just gotta get comfortable with them and when you do, you know you create chemistry and create offense," says Sheary.

With Sheary leading the team in offense and goaltending putting up great saves, it's no wonder the Pens have won 7 of the last 10 games, but there's still ground to gain on their division rivals of Hershey."

"You want to continue to get better, particularly at this point of the year.  You can always shift your mentality always to standings and playoff races and chasing and teams chasing you, and that gets you nowhere.  You've got to make sure you focus on what we can control and that's getting our game better and executing and trying to win the games we're supposed to win."

The Pens hope to keep the momentum going on home ice Saturday night against Providence.
