PRICE TOWNSHIP -- Presidents Day weekend is always a busy few days on the slopes, but the bitter cold temperatures threw a wrench in plans for skiers and snowboarders this weekend.

With temperatures down to single digits and wind chill warnings in effect, you would think people would want to stay inside. But that wasn`t the case for a few people at Alpine Ski Resort in Monroe County.

"My nose was starting to like freeze and my cheeks were getting really frozen, but it was actually really fun because there is a lot of fresh powder," said Grace Conlin of Hoboken, New Jersey.

Newswatch 16 spoke to owners of the resort who say the bitter cold temperatures are definitely taking a toll on business, especially this holiday weekend when the slopes should be packed.

"The weather is something that you gotta prepare for. I sit down everyone and I say, 'Listen, we didn't buy this resort for a single ski season.' So you know, you throw everything you can at it this year and we'll come back a lot stronger next year," said Alpine Mountain Resort President Kevin Fabiano.

Despite the fact that it is very cold and also very windy, and although the mountain isn't as packed as it normally would be during this time of the week. Those who did come out to brave the weather say the key is to just bundle up and take breaks when needed.

"We did two quickies. Went in and covered up a little better and we are just going to keeping taking a lot of short breaks," said Liz Blender of Rockaway, New Jersey.

Peter Conlin and his three kids, all from Hoboken, New Jersey, say they go skiing once a year, and always during this holiday weekend, and they weren`t going to let a little cold weather get in their way.

"It's Presidents Day weekend. This is the weekend that we ski on Sunday and then we get sunburned on Tuesday. Tuesday morning we leave for Florida," Conlin said.

"It's just the weather. You live with it. It's not like we live in the arctic," said Quin Conlin.

Over at Camelback Mountain Resort in Pocono Township, the crowds were bigger, but not as busy as expected.
Some of the skiers we spoke to say they aren`t surprised by the smaller than normal crowds.

"We had already booked the night so we had to come anyway. Even though we swore we'd never come out in these temperatures. Swore it, but what are you going to do?" Jessie Villacis of Queens, New York said.

Others say planning around Mother Nature is a slippery slope and sometimes you have to make the best out of what you`re given.
