SCRANTON-- Authorities in Scranton have made an arrest in a hit and run case that critically injured a woman.

Police took iffany Timko, 25, of Hazleton into custody early Saturday morning in Scranton.

She is charged with hitting Betty Sawkulich with her car Wednesday night along South Main Avenue in the city.

The car was recovered Friday night at a home in Clarks Summit.

Timko was charged with the crime hours later.

Scranton's police chief Carl Graziano told Newswatch 16 some of the tips that came in from the public were useful in apprehending the suspect.

According to paperwork filed by police, Timko told a friend that her car was damaged by a refrigerator falling off a truck.

The victim is still in critical condition, and her family says she has serious head injuries and has been through surgery.
