BLOOMSBURG -- Bloomsburg police say they found a gun they believe was used in Wednesday night's shooting on Fetterman Avenue.

The shooting left two university students hurt. One of those students is in critical condition.

Bloomsburg police do not believe the shooting was a random act, and add that public is not in danger. Authorities say the case is still under investigation. They believe two intruders had a specific reason for breaking into that apartment in Bloomsburg and shooting the students, who are from Philadelphia, but police do not know what that reason is.

Yellow crime scene tape covers the front of this apartment house on Fetterman Avenue. Just hours earlier police say two Bloomsburg University students were shot there. Two other students who live in the apartment upstairs were watching TV at the time of the shooting.

"We heard a bang and that kind of got us up and we wondered, 'what was that?' And we heard another bang followed by a scream so then we locked the door and turned off the lights," Maria Cimino said.

"We, like, went to the window, we heard another bang, we hit the deck real quick," Samantha Krautler said.

Bloomsburg Police Sgt. Leonard Rogutski says the shooting happened right before 10 p.m. Wednesday. When police got to the apartment, they found one student who was shot.

"He was taken to Geisinger Medical Center and our understanding is that he is still in critical condition and has had at least one surgery and is scheduled for another within the next day or so," Rogutski said.

Rogutski says shortly after that, authorities found out there was another gunshot victim, who is also a student. He was shot in the arm and went to a hospital in Bloomsburg. Rogutski says police found a gun close to the scene. They believe the gun was involved in the shooting.

Police believe the incident was not random and people who live around here have nothing to worry about.

"There's some reason these people were targeted. We're still looking into that part of the investigation," Rogutski said.

As for Cimino and Krautler, they both say their parents wanted them to come home after the shooting, but they felt safe at their apartment.

"Since there were so many cops around, I felt like it was definitely one of the safest places to be since there was so much activity around here," Krautler said.

Bloomsburg police say they have some leads, but are still investigating the shooting. If you have any information you are asked to call the Bloomsburg Police Department at 570-784-4155.
