BRODHEADSVILLE -- Another new health care center celebrated a grand opening Thursday in the Poconos.

This one is located in the west end of Monroe County in the Brodheadsville area. It's located about 15 to 20 minutes away from another community health care center in the Bartonsville area that opened less than a year ago, and we're hearing there's another center just like these in the works for the East Stroudsburg area.

It's the newest addition of health care centers in the Poconos. The West End Healthcare Center celebrated its grand opening off Route 209.

"Our goal is to meet the community's needs with comprehensive, integrated health care all under one roof and this building that we're standing in now does definitely accomplish that," said Pocono Health System CEO Jeffrey Snyder.

This center offers a variety of care, including primary care doctors, general surgery, immediate care and specialists.

Joyce Newbery of Saylorsburg says centers like this with convenient parking, and a variety of services is important.

"I think those two aspects are critical. They're very important. My choice for going someplace, I need to be able to park with ease and having it all in one location is good," said Newbery.

This latest medical building is about 15 to 20 minutes away from another that opened in Bartonsville less than a year ago. Still, the community says this is fulfilling a need in the west end of the county.

"Actually it's a godsend because it's really something Monroe County needs, it's something that's close by for the community," said Susan Dudley of Saylorsburg.

People who come to Pocono Medical Center's new west end facility also could save a lot of money. Doctors tell us patients who stop in there for immediate care could save more than $50 on their copay.

"Yes, absolutely, I mean anytime that people can save on copay, it'd be much cheaper. It's money back in their pocket," said Dudley.

Pocono Medical Center officials say another health care center like this one is already in the works for East Stroudsburg and is the future of health care.

"I think we are across the nation in health care in general. This is exactly what we're seeing," said Snyder.

This project cost a total of about $9 million.

Patients already started showing up for appointments at this new health care center in the west end earlier this week.
