WLIKES -BARRE -- Adam Thompson and Liza Duddy of Wilkes-Barre are locked up on child endangerment charges in Luzerne County.
They were arrested after Duddy's sister asked police to check on the children and discovered their 8-month-old daughter suffered burn wounds, but Thompson's family tells said that police have it all wrong.
Wilkes-Barre Police went inside Thompson and Duddy's apartment on Conyngham Avenue and said it was filthy.
According to court papers, police found garbage all over the place, tobacco on the floor, and crumbling plaster on the walls.
Thompson and Duddy live in the apartment with their 4-year-old son and infant daughter.
Their family admits the place isn't very clean but also adds that it's not as bad as police said.
"It`s hard to find a job around here so they kind of got stuck in this house here which kind of, it ain`t the best house, but at least they got the kids off the street," said Joe Thompson, Adam's father.
Thompson's family said the whole thing is a misunderstanding. They said the parents do whatever they can to take care of the two kids.

"They`re great parents! They're up at my house, they're always out with the kids and anytime I need help it`s like 'dad, I'll help you," said the children's grandfather.
Thompson said the couple can explain the burn marks on the baby and why they didn't take her to the hospital right away.
"A couple of days ago the baby, she got burnt, on accident on a heater. They were afraid to take her to the hospital because they knew children and youth usually comes right in and takes the kids off of everybody," said Thompson.
The grandfather of the kids said he didn't know that the doctors also said the baby also had ringworm.
Neighbors in Wilkes-Barre said Thompson and Duddy were in a tough situation. Also adding that it's hard to take care of kids when you don't have a job or a lot of money.
"If you don't take your kid to the hospital something can happen to your child and if you do take your child to the hospital and it gets hurt, you get blamed for it," said Sue, a neighbor.
Both Duddy and Thompson are behind bars at the Luzerne County Prison and are scheduled to be in front of a judge later this month.
Their children are staying with Thompson's parents.
