The Scranton Knights wrestling team is back at practice running in the halls and drilling in the wrestling room. The District 2 AAA dual meet champions are headed to Hershey on Thursday night for a team championship run. It's the first time for Kazim Bakhriyev and Rui Evanitsky.

"I'll be pretty nervous with all the fans there, but it will be a great experience. It will be a lot of fun and the first time ever," said Rui Evanitsky.

"It means a lot. It's my school so I hope we do good. And I hope I do good make my coaches, my parents, everybody proud of me, so I hope everything goes well," said Kazim Bakhriyev.

Head coach Jim Morgan was with the Knights when they captured the District 2 AAA dual meet championship, but since then he's been in North Carolina pursuing another job. He hopes to be back with the Knights on Thursday night at the Giant center when they take on Bethlehem Catholic.

"It's important he has to take care of his family. He was waiting for things to happen here but they just didn't develop for him so he had to go down to North Carolina. The team already misses him. He has been pouring his heart into this team for many years and we are going to miss him, but he's going to be down in Hershey this weekend with us-supporting us-coaching so it's a good thing," said John Burgette.

Facing the 7th ranked team in the country with seven nationally ranked wrestlers won't be an easy task, but Coach Burgette has seen it before.

"From top to bottom they are tough. We are familiar with them because on occasion we will go down to Bethlehem Catholic to wrestle in their club-off season. We are familiar with some of those kids down there, but they are tough. Their just tough. We have kids that will dedicate the majority of their season to wrestling. Bethlehem Catholic has all of their of kids that dedicate the whole year to the season," added John.

Montoursville, Wyalusing and Meyers represent AA while Jersey Shore is in at AAA along with the Knights.
