SCRANTON -- It's yet another blast of winter. After we were hit by nearly a foot of snow in parts of our area, now we have to deal with the bitter cold.

The National Weather Service had wind chill advisories posted for Monday night and Tuesday morning. They have expired.

We found in Scranton, it was a morning to bundle up and make the most of a difficult situation. It was a freezing morning when you needed some help to get by.

For Brad Cleveland, it was in the form of an extra-large coffee.

"Around here, you kind of get used to it," Cleveland said.

"But you have a giant coffee in your hand!"

"Gotta have the coffee," he replied. "Every morning is a coffee morning."

We caught up with Cleveland as he waited for a COLTS bus along Wyoming Avenue in downtown Scranton.

This isn't just a story about the cold. It's a story about the extreme cold. Temperatures in the single digits, factor in the wind, and it feels like it's well below zero.

Najaah Wallace, another COLTS passenger, said the extreme cold means extreme clothing.

"I pretty much layer up. I layer up on everything. Right now, I have two stretchies on, some jeans, shirt, long johns, sweater and this coat."

Wallace says it worked. The only cold part of her body was her face.

Sharon Peterson was walking to a bus terminal on Lackawanna Avenue in Scranton. She said her heavy clothing isn't helping.

"It's so cold, I can't feel my legs or my face right now. It might be a good thing, too numb to feel you're freezing."

We did find some people out this morning, underdressed. University of Scranton student Tara Sabella says it's OK.

"I'm going to the gym, starting the year off right. I'm going to work out."

It's only a few blocks from dorm room to gym, so Sabella can get by with bare calves.

Kiernan Meyer is another U student. It's clear, she's ready for the cold.

"I do enjoy the winter, but when it gets this cold, it's too much, but you gotta do what you gotta do."

And for Meyer, "gotta do" means dressing in layers, coat, hat, scarf and more, as she makes her way across campus on one of the coldest days of the season.
