SHAMOKIN -- Rich Jakuc and Jeff Berkey spent the day shoveling snow outside their homes in Shamokin.
"It makes a workout for it, shoveling it," Berkey said.
While it wasn't the 6 to10 inches they thought they'd get, Jakuc says he would almost prefer a lot of snow instead of the wet, heavy mess in front of his house.
"We had 14 inches last time but it was a light snow so you just push it right off. This is too much work for me," Jakuc said.
Shamokin got about 3 to 4 inches of snow. That was enough for plow trucks and snow throwers to do their jobs. And it was more than enough to close school for the day.
Newswatch 16 found children playing in the snow all over Shamokin. They were happy to have the day off from school, and took full advantage of the snow.
"It's fun because you can build a snowman, you can go sledding, you could do snowball fights," John Seiler said.
"Really fun because we can go sledding, build a snowman, have snowball fights," Case Lichty said.
Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter. The people we spoke with say they could do without that.
"It seems like he sees his shadow no matter what. I think it's all rigged. I don't know if it's rigged for who but not me," Jakuc said.
"It's all a lie. It's all a lie," Berkey said.
Even so, this is winter in northeastern and central Pennsylvania, so snow is something we are all used to by now.
