WILKES-BARRE -- Driving in snow can be dangerous thing. Newswatch 16 spoke to some residents in Wilkes-Barre who say they are particularly worried with the snow building up on their roads and freezing temperatures heading our way.

All around Wilkes-Barre, plows are out trying to get snow off the roads and salt on the streets. But it's a big area to cover and some streets just don't get the same amount of attention as others.

"I moved here a couple of years ago they told me, my neighbors, that the city has been told about it or asked to come here a little more often. I guess they are doing a little better job," said Dan Hohal.

Hohal lives in the city's Parsons section. He uses a snow thrower on his driveway and on part of Parkin Street. He says it's a side street that doesn't get plowed as often as the main streets.

"We're one of the last ones to get to, and now they say with the temperature going to be dropping, if they don't get to this really, really soon or salt it, it's going to become ice."

In the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, the main roads have some slush but they don't seem to be causing drivers that much of a problem. Residents say though as soon as you turn to the side streets, that's a different story.

"I can imagine it getting a little dangerous out there, especially if you don't know what you are turning into," said Andrew Wensel.

Wensel lives in the Miner's Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and says his street usually stays white on snowy days and drivers frequently get stuck. He says he sees plows trucks around but wishes they would come by just a little more often.

"It'd be nice! I don't know if they are busy with more traveled roads or what, but it would definitely be nice."

Wilkes-Barre's department of public works said extra plows will be out Monday night up until 11 p.m. and again starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Newswatch 16 asked specifically about the Miners Mills and Parsons sections and they said they actually had crews there when we called.
