OLD FORGE -- Crews battled a massive two-alarm fire in Lackawanna County.

Officials said flames broke out at the building on Connell Street in Old Forge just after 5 p.m. sending enormous flames into the sky. Crews from several surrounding communities were called in to help.

It took firefighters hours to get the flames under control and the weather made it more difficult. As the temperature dropped things began to ice up.

The Old Forge fire chief said water pressure was a problem and when the pressure dropped he had to pull his men out of the building and fight the fire from the outside.

The building used to hold a popular bar and dance hall.

Two people staying in the building got out ok. One of the people living inside said he and his girlfriend lost almost everything, but they did manage to get their two cats out.

The fire chief said the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the cause is under investigation.
