MINERSVILLE -- The Super Bowl is all about three things: football, food and if you're over the age of 21, beer.

Officials in Schuylkill County encourage people to have a good time while watching the game and police plan to crack down on drinking and driving.

Minersville Police are asking bars in the borough to hang signs provided by the NFL and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Minersville Police Chief Michael Combs said the signs are, "to remind their patrons that if they've had enough, they've had enough and turn your keys over to someone or call a cab or do whatever you can do."

Management at the Curran Hotel agree with Minersville Police. They said that they want everyone to have a good time on Super Bowl Sunday, but they also want them to drive safe.

"We follow the program here, we support the efforts of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and all aspects of it," said Brock Laubenstine at the Curran Hotel.

The bar opened in Minersville back in November, this is the first year it will host a Super Bowl party. Managers look forward to the big game and big crowd, but also plan to keep their customers safe so they can come back next year.

People in Schuylkill County who will be at the bars or on the road after the game think DUI enforcement is a good thing, too.

"If people want to go out and party on Super Bowl Sunday they should have a designated driver," said Charles Kukuk.

Kukuk is a truck driver and said he's seen too many drunk drivers on the road at night.

Bottom line? "It's not worth the risk, not worth the risk in lives, not worth the risks of the penalties that will be imposed if they're caught driving under the influence," said Combs.

Minersville Police plan to have extra patrols on Sunday night.
