EATON TOWNSHIP -- On Tuesday Tom Wolf became Pennsylvania`s 47th governor. Now it will be up to the Democrat from York County to guide the Commonwealth for at least the next four years. For some folks in Wyoming County, they`re ready to see the state take on a new course.

“I think it might be a good change, I think that we`re due for a change, we need some positive happenings,” said Terri Curtis from Lake Winola.

On Election Night last November, it was clear the voters were done with Republican Governor Tom Corbett with Wolf being declared the victor moments after the polls closed.

Corbett is the first incumbent governor not to win re-election since before the Civil War.

“I’m glad we`re getting a new governor, I think we had enough of the Republicans end, the governor we had,” said Peter Lauer from Tunkhannock.

Some of the platforms Wolf ran on include funding education and creating jobs.

Wolf also wants to impose heavier taxes and regulations on the natural gas drilling industry.

“I feel it`s only warranted. Everybody else has to do the same thing. I think it would only benefit the area,” said Curtis.

“From what I`ve heard, DEP and DCNR do not have enough staff, but it seems like the gas industry is paying up quite a bit when you really dig into it,” said Ernie Schwink from Falls.

Others believe we`ll just be getting more of the same political cheap talk.

“I don`t trust any of them. I`m sorry to say. I don`t see what any of them have really done for this country lately,” said Judy Crispell from Tunkhannock.

Governor Wolf has said he wants to impose a five percent extraction fee on drilling, but has said he supports fracking as a drilling process and wants his administration to have a partnership with the gas industry.
