MAHANOY CITY — Firefighters in Schuylkill County were called to an early morning fire.
The 2nd alarm fire on South D Street in Mahanoy City started around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to officials.
Firefighters said the homeowner woke up to the sound of his smoke alarm and was rescued from the roof by his neighbors.
Authorities said the home received significant smoke, fire and water damage.
One firefighter received minor injuries during the fire, but did not need medical attention, according to officials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
