MOOSIC -- Some bakers in Lackawanna County were hard at work overnight to fulfill their role in the next governor's inauguration celebration.

Gerrity's Supermarket in Moosic received a request to bake 3,000 hot dog rolls for the party after Governor Tom Wolf's inauguration Tuesday.

The people at Gerrity's bakery said this is their biggest single item order in history.

Starting work long before sunrise, big orders are nothing new for the staff at Gerrity's Supermarket bakery in Moosic, but Monday this job is a little different.

3,000 hot dog rolls; it's time to start planning.

That was baker Joe Chiampi's reaction when he was told Gerrity's would be donating 3,000 hot dog rolls for Governor Wolf's party at Hershey Tuesday night.

"It makes you feel good that you're doing something that happens once every four years and it is the governor. It's nice to know our rolls are going down there," said Chiampi.

Chiampi and his staff spent a lot of time going over the ingredients, supplies, and manpower for the project.

"It's not often that you get a 3,000 hot dog order and when you do get it, it's OK, we need to do it. It's for the governor and we need to do it," Chiampi said.

The Gerrity's staff, and their machines, started mixing, kneading, rolling, and baking at 2 a.m.

The hot dogs for the Wolf party will come from the Reading area, but the rolls come from Moosic and they come with something else, courtesy of the Gerrity's staff: a great deal of pride.

"I guess it's pretty neat knowing that it's going somewhere else, for the governor," said Doreen Harvey.

By sunrise, the job was done: baked, wrapped, and ready to be shipped to the party site in Hershey.

If this delivery person looks familiar, he's State Representative Marty Flynn from Scranton.

"He got 73 percent of the vote here, so it's nice to see our area give back a little to Tom Wolf, also," Rep Flynn said.

And in the spirit of giving, Gerrity's donated the 3,000 hot dog rolls to the Wolf Inaugural Committee.
