SCRANTON -- Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton was on lockdown for about two hours Sunday night, according to Scranton police.

Hospital officials said it was all a false alarm having to do with reports of a suspicious man, but have not given any details.

According to one witness, people visiting the hospital were told they had to stay where they were and close the doors.

For a time, police said no one was allowed to enter the hospital on Mulberry Street, but visitors and workers whose shifts had ended were allowed to leave.

Several patients told Newswatch 16 they were waiting for hours not sure what was happening.

"The lady was in the doorway. There were a lot of cops with a lot of vests, telling that we can't leave. We have to sit down," said Marquise Caudill, a Lackawanna College student.

"They said, 'Don't let anyone come through that door,' so we were a little concerned," said Billy Mulligan of Clarks Summit.

The lockdown was lifted just after 9:30 p.m.
