EAST STROUDSBURG -- A police officer rescued a woman from her burning home in Monroe County.
The fire started just before 4 a.m. Saturday on Brodhead Avenue in East Stroudsburg.
Firefighters believe the fire may have started in the garage.
The 83-year-old woman who lived there was asleep in bed when the fire started. A police officer carried her out. Her daughter is calling that officer an angel.
"They did a great job, otherwise she would not have made it out. They picked her up and carried her out in her pajamas," said Deborah Landi, the woman's daughter.
The fire chief said the roof had caved in.
That woman will be staying with her family.
