The state has stepped in to preserve a pair of county-owned recreation areas in Luzerne County.
Officials announced plans to transfer ownership of the Seven Tubs Natural Area and Moon Lake Park -- along with 400 acres of land adjacent to it -- to the state.
Part of the deal includes $1 million in state money for improvements at Moon Lake near Hunlock Creek, including new trails and a new boat ramp.
The Luzerne County Council voted last month to transfer ownership of the parcels to DCNR.
