Penn State University and the NCAA are reportedly in talks to avoid a lawsuit over sanctions placed on the school nearly three years ago, according to published reports.

The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that one of the topics of discussion is restoring all of the 111 wins stripped from late head coach Joe Paterno.

The NCAA stripped the wins as part of an agreement with Penn State in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

A report commissioned by Penn State in 2012 found that Paterno and other school leaders "empowered" Sandusky.

Penn State also lost football scholarships, could not play in bowl games, and had to pay a $60 million fine.

A lawsuit filed against the NCAA by state officials is scheduled to go to court next month.
