TAYLOR -- It could still be a couple more days before people can go back home after a gas leak forced them out Tuesday night in Lackawanna County.

More than 100 families had to leave the housing development in Taylor. Many have returned already.

Managers had expected to have everyone back home no later than Monday.

However, those same managers said the cold weather caused some unexpected delays.

Crews are replacing every inch of the gas lines in the entire development and workers are also flushing water pipes with antifreeze.

Management told Newswatch 16 at least three apartment buildings had pipes freeze and burst.

One man said almost everything he owned got soaked.

"There are drawers filled with water. The rug is soaked and they put in two little space heaters saying that would dry it out," said George Coggins of Taylor.

About two dozen families still haven't been able to go home, but managers said they expect everyone to be back in their homes by Tuesday.
