WILKES-BARRE -- Some boy scouts spent their Saturday at college--merit badge college, that is.

More than 300 scouts spent the day at King's College working towards merit badges including lifesaving, chemistry, and even journalism.

The classes will bring the scouts closer to Eagle Scout status.

"Lots of good stuff going on, lots of opportunity for scouts to advance in rank. Head on the trail to Eagle and learn about some topics that they may not have had opportunities to get themselves involved in," said David Srebro with the Boy Scouts of America.

This was the 17th year for the Merit Badge College.
